Frequently asked questions.

Is LENS Neurofeedback safe?

Yes!!! LENS Therapy is completely non-invasive and safe. LENS Therapy is simply sending a small radio signal (less than what a digital watch uses) to the brain, disrupting clusters of frequencies that may have been locked together in rigid patterns and allowing them to become flexible again and organized in a more normal pattern.

Since its inception in the 1990’s, no one has ever been harmed using LENS Therapy.

How many LENS sessions will I require?

On average clients who want to optimize their functioning or improve a behaviour get to their desired state in 12 sessions. For serious brain injuries, extensive trauma, or complexities, it may require further sessions. For children, it is usually less than 10 sessions.

Most people see results within 4 sessions and continue for even greater and long lasting results. Once you feel you have met your goals, you can come back for once a year ‘tune ups’, or following any further impactful events or injuries.

Who can I bring to my session?

I am more than happy to welcome your loved one or support to your session with your consent. I am also able to schedule back to back appointments for you to join each other’s sessions.

For parents or caregivers, I am happy to have your children come with you and play in my space while you have your treatment.

Are there side effects to LENS?

On occasion, some patients experience very transient (lasting up to 24 hours) side-effects such as feeling wired, tired, anxious or irritable or have a mild headache. I consider these side-effects as a positive response, as an indication that the patient’s brain is interacting with the LENS. This is usually a good prognostic indicator. There are no long term side effects to LENS neurofeedback.

What can I expect during my LENS Session?

I will first complete an intake with you to review your treatment plan and dosage. I will review my equipment and go through the steps, and which of the 21 head sites I will be hooking up. I will check in with you throughout the process to make sure you are comfortable. I use a cleansing gel called NuPrep to prep your skin, and a conductive paste to hook up the EEG sensors. Please be aware that there may be some residue on your skin or in your hair following your treatment. Sessions are typically 15-30 minutes, and only require you to close your eyes for a matter of seconds - The machine does the rest of the work for you!
